Roof Weather CoverThe top cover shades the enclosure and helps with light rain.
Five Zip DoorsThree large and two small zippered doors for cats and for cleaning.

Give your cat real outdoor time with a window catio that keeps paws safe and curiosity satisfied.

Four levels of climbing space inside a zippered nylon mesh and metal frame, with a weather cover on the roof and five doors for easy access.

A 4-tier window catio that gives indoor cats fresh air and a view without letting them roam.

The frame uses metal rods wrapped in nylon mesh, so the structure stays light but holds its shape.

Three large doors and two small doors mean you can reach any level to swap bedding or litter.

A cover on the roof shades the top tier and sheds light rain, which helps on a sunny balcony.

It measures 91.9 cm wide, 91.9 cm deep and 183.9 cm tall, and assembly is required.

Deblue 4-Tier Window Catio Cat Enclosure

Most cats want two things that pull against each other. They want to be outside, and you want them safe. A window catio is the compromise that actually works. This Deblue enclosure stands 183.9 cm tall on a square footprint of 91.9 cm by 91.9 cm, which gives your cat height to climb and a defined space that cannot be wandered out of. Set it against a window or a balcony door and the inside of your home becomes the entrance.

Deblue 4-Tier Window Catio Cat Enclosure

The build is simple on purpose. Metal rods form the frame, and nylon mesh panels wrap the sides so air moves through and you can see your cat from across the room. Mesh also keeps the enclosure light enough to shift if you want to chase the sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. The listed closure type is a zipper, and there are five of them across the structure, three large doors and two small ones.

Deblue 4-Tier Window Catio Cat Enclosure

Four tiers is the part that matters most to a cat. Floor space is useful, but cats measure a space by how high they can get and how many spots there are to choose from. Stacked levels let a confident cat take the top perch while a shy one keeps to the ground, which is why a multi tier cat cage usually works better for two or three cats than a single wide pen of the same area.

Deblue 4-Tier Window Catio Cat Enclosure

The included roof cover does two jobs. It shades the top level so the enclosure does not turn into a hotbox in afternoon sun, and it sheds light rain so a brief shower does not end outdoor time. It also gives a cat a sense of being tucked under something, which some cats need before they will settle at all.

Deblue 4-Tier Window Catio Cat Enclosure

Assembly is required and the enclosure can be taken apart again for storage. That matters if you rent, if you move the catio between a balcony and a backyard with the seasons, or if you only want it up on fine days. Nothing here is permanent, which is part of the appeal for anyone who cannot build a fixed outdoor cat cage onto the side of a house.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

A catio has to fit your space and your cat, and you cannot always judge that from a photograph. If it is not right for you, send it back within 14 days of delivery in resaleable condition and we refund the price you paid, including standard delivery. That is a voluntary policy we offer on top of your legal rights.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The consumer protection law of your state covers you, and we pay the return postage. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a window catio?

It is an enclosed outdoor space for cats that connects to a window or door of your home. Your cat steps out, gets fresh air and a view, and stays inside a mesh barrier the whole time. This model is a freestanding four-tier structure you position against an opening.

How big is this enclosure?

It measures 91.9 cm long, 91.9 cm wide and 183.9 cm tall. That is roughly a square metre of floor area with almost two metres of vertical height. The height is spread across four levels rather than one tall empty box.

What is it made from?

The materials listed are metal and nylon. Metal rods form the frame and nylon mesh covers the panels. The mesh lets air and light through while keeping your cat contained.

How many cats can use it?

Capacity is not specified in this product record, so we will not quote a number. The four levels and square metre footprint give more usable space than the floor area alone suggests. Watch how your own cats behave together and add a second resting spot if they start competing for the top tier.

Does it need to be attached to a window?

No. It is a freestanding enclosure, so you can place it against a window, by a balcony door, or anywhere in a yard. Using it as a catio for window access just means positioning it so your cat can come and go on their own.

Is assembly required?

Yes, assembly is required. The frame comes apart into rods and mesh panels and goes back together at home. Take your time with the frame before fitting the mesh, as it is much easier that way.

Do I need tools to put it together?

The design is built around push-fit rods and zipped mesh rather than hardware, so you should not need a full toolkit. Have a clear floor space and give yourself half an hour. Check the instructions in the box for the exact sequence.

Can I take it down again?

Yes. It disassembles for storage, which is handy if you only want it up in warmer months or if you move house. Store the mesh dry and folded so it does not crease into permanent lines.

What does the roof cover do?

It sits over the top of the enclosure to provide shade and shed light rain. Direct sun on a mesh roof can make the top tier uncomfortable, and the cover solves that. It also gives a cat somewhere to hide under if a bird goes overhead.

Is this waterproof?

The cover is designed for light rain and sun, not for storms. Mesh sides will let driving rain through. Treat it as shelter from a passing shower rather than a weatherproof outdoor cat cage.

Can I leave it outside permanently?

You can leave it set up outdoors in settled weather, but take it down or move it under cover in strong wind. Fabric and mesh structures catch wind easily. Regular checks on the frame and stakes will keep it stable.

Will it blow over on a balcony?

Any lightweight enclosure needs anchoring on a balcony. Peg or weight the base, keep it against a wall rather than out in the open, and bring it in when the forecast turns. A balcony cat cage should never be left to fend for itself in a gale.

How many doors does it have?

There are five zippered doors in total, three large and two small. The large ones give you room to reach in or climb in. The small ones work well as a cat entry point you can leave open.

Can I get inside to clean it?

Yes, the large doors are sized so an adult can reach or crawl in. That makes changing litter, swapping bedding and sweeping out fur much easier than a tiny hatch would. It is one of the better features of this metal cat enclosure.

Does it come with shelves or platforms?

It is a four-tier design, so the levels are part of the structure. The record lists the cover as an included component. Add your own soft mats or beds to the tiers if you want them more inviting.

Can I put a litter tray inside?

Yes, and most owners do if the cat will spend longer stretches out there. Put it on the ground level near a large door so you can reach it easily. Keep food and water on a different tier.

Is it suitable for kittens?

Kittens can use a tiered enclosure, but supervise them while they learn to judge the drops between levels. Start them on the lower tiers. Never leave a very young kitten unsupervised in any outdoor space.

Will it hold an older or heavier cat?

Older cats often prefer the ground and first levels and ignore the top entirely, which is fine. If your cat has stiff joints, place a step or box near the lowest tier to soften the climb. The square metre of ground space is enough for a cat who just wants to lie in the sun.

Can dogs use it?

The product is listed for cats. A dog's weight and chewing habits are a different problem to solve, so we would not recommend it. Look at purpose-built dog pens instead.

Does it protect against other animals?

The mesh and frame form a physical barrier that keeps your cat in and discourages contact with animals outside. It is not a fortress, so do not leave a cat in it overnight or unsupervised in an area with roaming dogs. Common sense about placement matters more than the product itself.

Will insects get in?

The mesh weave limits larger insects, but very small bugs can still pass through any ventilated fabric. Keep food out of the enclosure between meals to avoid attracting flies. Regular cleaning helps most.

How do I clean the mesh?

Spot clean with mild soapy water and a soft cloth, then let it air dry completely. Avoid bleach and harsh solvents, which can weaken nylon over time. Dry mesh is the main defence against mildew.

How do I clean the frame?

Wipe the metal rods with a damp cloth and dry them off. Pay attention to the joints, where dirt and moisture collect. A quick wipe every few weeks keeps the best metal cat enclosure looking and working well for longer.

Will my cat actually use it?

Most do, but give it time. Put a familiar blanket and a favourite toy inside, leave the doors open, and let your cat explore without pressure. Feeding a few meals near the entrance speeds things along.

Can I move it around the garden?

Yes, the mesh and rod construction is light enough to reposition, though it is easier with two people. Many owners shift it through the day to follow shade. Re-peg the base after every move.

What colour is it?

Black. The dark mesh is less visually obtrusive than a pale colour and makes it easier to see into the enclosure from outside. It also hides dust and garden dirt reasonably well.

Does it work indoors?

Yes. Used inside it becomes a tall cat condo or a safe zone during renovations, visitors or recovery from surgery. The same four tiers that work outside give an indoor cat climbing space.

How is it delivered?

It ships flat-packed in a carton, since it arrives disassembled. Check the parts list against the instructions before you start building. Keep the carton for a few days in case anything needs to go back.

Can I buy it as a gift?

It makes a good gift for someone with an indoor cat and a balcony or small yard. Because assembly is needed, mention that to the recipient so the box does not sit unopened. Confirm they have the floor space for a 91.9 cm square footprint first.

What if it is not right for us?

Contact our team and we will walk you through the return process for your country. Keep the packaging and the parts together, and let us know what did not work, whether it was size, placement or your cat's reaction. If a different style of cat enclosure would suit you better, we can point you towards one.

How To Choose And Set Up A Window Catio

6 min read Catio Company

The problem with an indoor cat

Indoor cats live longer. That is settled. The trouble is that a cat who never goes outside is a cat who spends a lot of time at the window making small noises at birds. You see it in the behaviour: the 3am sprinting, the overgrooming, the sudden dash for the front door whenever someone brings in groceries.

Letting them roam is not the answer for most people. Roads, dogs, other cats, ticks, and in a lot of places, local wildlife that should not be hunted. So you end up stuck between a bored cat and an unsafe one.

A window catio sits in the gap. It is an enclosed outdoor space your cat can use freely, with mesh between them and everything you are worried about. They get sun, moving air, insect sounds and the smell of the garden. You get a cat who sleeps at night.

How this one works

This enclosure is a freestanding structure, 91.9 cm square at the base and 183.9 cm tall. Metal rods make the frame and nylon mesh forms the walls. Inside, the space is split into four tiers.

That tiered layout is the important bit. A cat does not read a room the way we do. A floor is just a floor. What they want is height, options, and a way to get above whatever is making them nervous. Four levels in a square metre of footprint gives far more usable territory than the same square metre laid flat.

There are five doors, all zippered. Three are large, two are small. The small ones are sized for a cat to come and go. The large ones are sized for you, so you can get your arms (or the rest of you) inside to clean, change litter or coax out a cat who has decided the top level is home now.

A cover sits on the roof. It shades the upper tier and sheds light rain, and it gives a cat the feeling of being under something, which matters more than people expect. Cats settle better with a roof over them.

Assembly is required, and the whole thing comes apart again for storage.

Where to put it

The name says window, and that is the classic setup. Position the enclosure against a window your cat already uses, prop the window open enough for them to pass through, and the catio becomes an extension of the room. No supervision needed once they are confident with it.

Balconies work well too. The footprint is small enough for most apartment balconies, and the height gives your cat more vertical space than the balcony itself usually offers. The one rule for a balcony cat cage is anchoring. Wind on a high balcony is stronger than wind at ground level, and a mesh structure catches it. Peg or weight the base, keep it against a wall, and bring it in when the weather turns.

In a backyard, you have more freedom. Think about shade across the day rather than just at the moment you are setting up. A spot that is lovely at 9am can be brutal at 2pm. The roof cover helps, but it is not a substitute for actual shade from a tree or a wall.

Indoors is a legitimate option as well. A tall mesh enclosure makes a good recovery space after surgery, a safe zone during renovations, or a separate territory when you are introducing a new cat to the household.

Who it suits

This design works best for households with more than one cat. The tiers let a bolder cat claim the top while a nervous one keeps to the ground, and that separation prevents a lot of low-grade friction. A single wide pen of the same floor area does not offer that.

It also suits renters. Nothing is drilled into a wall, nothing is permanent, and the whole thing packs down when the lease ends. If you have ever wanted a proper catio but could not build one onto the house, this is the version you can actually have.

It is less ideal if your cat has mobility problems and cannot climb. They will use the ground tier and ignore the rest, which means you are paying for height you do not need. A low, wide run might serve them better.

And if you want something that stands outside year-round through serious weather, be realistic. The cover handles sun and light rain. It is not a shed.

Getting the build right

Clear a flat area before you start. Lay the rods out and match them to the instructions rather than guessing from the picture, because frame pieces of similar length often go in specific positions.

Build the frame fully before you fit the mesh. Trying to do both at once is where people lose an hour. Once the skeleton stands on its own, the mesh goes over it and the zips do the rest.

Check every joint is fully seated. A rod that is almost in will hold for a week and then give. Then stake or weight the base before you let a cat near it.

Introducing your cat

Do not pick your cat up and post them through the door. That is the fastest way to make them distrust the whole thing.

Instead, set it up, open the doors, and walk away. Put a blanket that smells like them on the ground tier. Leave a favourite toy. Feed a couple of meals near the entrance, then just inside, then on the first level.

Most cats take a few days. Some walk straight in on the first afternoon. A small number need a couple of weeks and a lot of patience. All of those are normal.

Once they are using it, resist the urge to stand and watch through the mesh. Cats explore more freely when they think nobody is paying attention.

Keeping it clean and sound

Fur, leaves and dust collect fast in mesh. Brush the roof cover off every week or so, especially under trees. Wipe the metal rods with a damp cloth and dry them, paying attention to the joints where moisture sits.

For the mesh, spot clean with mild soapy water and let it dry fully in open air before you zip it back up or store it. Damp nylon folded away is how you get mildew, and mildew is hard to reverse.

Keep grit out of the zip tracks. A zip that catches gets forced, and a forced zip is the first part to fail on any enclosure like this. A quick brush along the teeth now and then is enough.

Check the frame joints and the ground stakes monthly. Cats jump, land hard and climb mesh, and over a season that loosens things a little. Two minutes of tightening is better than a surprise.

The short version

If you have an indoor cat who stares out the window all day, a window catio is one of the few things that genuinely changes their quality of life. This one gives you four climbing tiers in a 91.9 cm square footprint, nearly two metres of height, metal and nylon construction, five zippered doors and a roof cover for shade and light rain.

It needs assembly, it needs anchoring, and it needs a sensible spot with shade. Get those three right and you have a safe outdoor space your cat can use on their own terms, which is really the whole point.
